It has been set in a hand made Sterling Silver bezel sweated to a hand made Sterling Silver cuff. Hand twisted Sterling Silver wire and hand stamped designs circle the Azurite stone and dress the triple-band cuff with a high shine. Made in our shop by Native American artist Jimmy Emerson. Various sources claim the name is derived from the Persian word lazhward or from the Arabic word azul, which both mean blue. Azurite is found in the southwestern USA, Mexico, Chile, Australia, France, Nambia, Morocco, and Zaire. For thousands of years this stone has been used in jewelry and ornamental objects. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance it was ground into pigment for use in paint and eye shadow.
